Jet Lag Recovery Day โ Stay Local
You just flew across the world yesterday. Today stays close to the hotel in Asakusa: a noon micro pig cafe, easy riverside walking, and AC escapes when the heat peaks. No long train rides, no rush.
Note: Ghibli Museum was sold out
Tickets sold out before we could book, so Day 2 is now a relaxed Asakusa day instead. Honestly a better fit for jet lag โ minimal travel and you're steps from the hotel.
๐ก Optional idea: Asakusa morning guided walk (NOT booked)
If we want a guided tour in Tokyo, the best fit is a short Asakusa food & culture walk (~9โ11:30 AM) โ local context for our home base, gentle pace for jet lag. What to ask operators about: "small-group or private Asakusa morning food/history walk, family of 4."
Trade-off: A morning tour overlaps the noon Micro Pig Cafe. To do it, we'd move the pig cafe later in the day or cancel it โ decide before booking either one. (If we keep the pig cafe, an Akihabara guided tour on Day 11 is the alternative Tokyo option.)
Late Morning
Slow Start + Breakfast
Sleep in if you need it. Grab breakfast at a konbini or a local Asakusa cafe, then wander toward the Micro Pig Cafe โ it's a short walk from most Asakusa spots.
Nakamise / Sensoji by Day
You saw Sensoji lit up last night โ now see it in daylight with the Nakamise shopping street fully open. Browse the stalls for snacks (ningyo-yaki, senbei, melon pan) and souvenirs before your cafe slot.
Midday โ MICRO PIG CAFE
๐ท Micro Pig Cafe (Asakusa)
A fun, AC-cooled animal cafe experience right in Asakusa โ a perfect low-key, jet-lag-friendly highlight. You'll have an hour with the micro pigs.
Booked: July 19, 12:00 PM ยท 1 hour ยท 4 adults
Lunch in Asakusa
After the pigs, grab lunch nearby. Asakusa is full of options โ tempura, soba, curry pan, or a melon pan from Kagetsudo. Keep it casual.
Afternoon
Sumida River Walk
Stroll along the Sumida River toward Azumabashi Bridge for a classic view of Tokyo Skytree and the Asahi building across the water. Sumida Park is pleasant and shaded in spots.
Heat option: Hop a short Tobu train or walk across to Tokyo Skytree Town (Solamachi) โ a big AC mall under the tower with shops, an aquarium, and a Pokemon Center.
Tokyo Skytree (optional)
If anyone has the energy, ride up Tokyo Skytree for sweeping city views, or just enjoy Solamachi below. Tokyo Skytree Town also has the Sumida Aquarium and the Pokemon Center Skytree Town โ an easy AC win.
Rainy / Too-Hot Backup: Ueno
Two subway stops away, Ueno has museums (National Museum, Science Museum) and Ueno Park & Zoo โ plenty of indoor options if the weather or jet lag pushes you inside.
Evening
Easy Dinner + Early Night
Dinner near the hotel in Asakusa โ don't push it tonight.
Goal: Be in bed by 9-10 PM to lock in your sleep schedule.
Tomorrow: teamLab Planets (11:30 AM) + Shibuya/Harajuku โ a bigger day.
